ER34 Short Shifter + ARC Titanium gearknob

I am sure a lot of petrolhead will know what a short shifter is. Basically it is to reduce the shift travel from each gear to the other thus making shifting gear efficient. I had the short shifter factory fitted in my Porsche Boxster S. So everytime I jump from Porsche to Skyline, the gear shift from one gear to another is so far always, it is like shifting gear in a lorry. LOL. Anyway, I got my ER34 a short shifter kit for about BND$60.00 online. It is a whole lot cheaper compared to Porsche short shifter which cost me roughly $800.00.

Top pic is normal shifter, lower pic is ftted with short shifter

As usual, my preferable workshop is always HKS SHH-Proshop. This is June trying out some sexy pose

This is the NISMO solid shifter that I used to have in my car. What is solid shifter? Well, I guess it is suppose to make your shifting solid? LOL

This is the short shifter that I purchased online

While I was waiting for the installation, I had an eye on the ARC Titanium gearknob. After a few discussion and test fitting, I finally bought that damn ball and fitted in the car too! (My Boxster S had some influenced in this decision)

Before

After....now I can shift my ER34 just like my 987.2

Human VTEC and Turbo Wastegate

OK, we all heard of human F1 sound right? that was so 10 years ago, check out this dude who can replicate the engine note from a Honda VTEC engine. Very impressive right from the rev to wheel spin to when the VTEC kicks in. I am impress. Not so on the last bit where he try to replicate the noise of turbo wastegate. Hehe.

Arrghh, all the equipments listed on their press release are damn attractive! Most of it I already had it in my car and some of them I really wish I had it in my car right now! The best part of the equipment bundle is the price!!! It is pretty cheap if converted from EURO to BND. Sigh, I really want the Design sport package!

Topping up engine oil on Boxster S

Boxster S had been with me for less then 3 months and the current mileage is mere 3000km. Last week, I found out that it is half empty thru my on-board computer. The car was obviously filled with engine oil when it left the factory. I was a little concern about it and my initial first thought was an engine leak, after a few calls to QAF Porsche and they rest assure me that it is normal. I also read the Boxster owner's manual which also stated that it is normal for boxer engine to "eat" away the engine oil during the first 5000km. Phew~

I can only check my engine oil level from the on-board computer located in the console, so no traditional dip-stick for measurement. Oil measurement usually take about 60 secs to ready as shown below.

Once the measurement duration is up, it will indicate how much engine oil you have left in your car. The car uses about 7.5 litres of engine oil. As you can see, half of it was already been eaten up.

To top up the engine oil, I need to go to my rear boot where the engine oil cap is located. In case you do not know, Boxster has a mid engine mounted just behind the seats. So, we have 2 compartments, one in front and one at the rear.

Left is engine oil cap and right is coolant cap (Duh!)

Mobil 1, my first time using it on my cars and also highly recommended by Porsche. I usually go for Idemitsu Racing Oil (ER34) and Shell Helix Ultra(Lexus) engine oil

Mobil 1 5W/50 will be used for the Boxster S engine

I do not know how much oil had been eaten up by the engine, but I do know I top up about 1 litre of Mobil oil.

Finally! The engine is now filled with Mobil engine oil

Car Articles

I came across a very interesting video from YOUTUBE. It is uploaded by user:yuriy1978, he is 32 years old judging from his nickname, owns a Nissan R35 and most likely from Europe or Russia. He had the car modded to 570hp cause it's title said HKS 570KIT. Here are the videos of him versus a 800HP R34 GT-R and 750HP Porsche 911 turbo.

Can see how insane these people are? How close they are to the other road users! They do not care more or less about the people around them! LOL, BUT! You just got to love the waste-gate noises from both the R34 and Porsche Turbo 911 screaming on top of their lung!!! After watching the video, I am in the mod for some mods!

Lamborghini Boxster or Porsche Murchielago??

This is modification to the extreme, I came across a website in the State where they can transform your Porsche Boxster 986 (Gen.1) to a Lamborghini Murchielago! The kits consist of the fibreglass Murchielago body, panels, bumpers and OEM rear lightning. All for USD14,500 which translate to about BND20,000++. Quite a bargain if you consider the price of a genuine new Lamborghini Murchielago will cost around BND600,000(est). Anyone selling their Boxster Gen.1 please email me? Hehehe

Porsche Boxster 986 (Gen.1)

This is the actual fibreglass body of the Murchielago sitting on a 97' Porsche Boxster 986 chassis

Sorry people V12 not included just a little boxer engine from Porsche

Yes they have other kits too as well, Lambo Countach, Lambo Diablo, Rolls Royce, Porsche as well!!!

I am actually quite impress with the fibreglass body, seriously I don't mind getting a used Boxster 986 and had it transformed to a Murchie. The only drawback is that from the outside yes it does look like a Murchie, but when you step inside the car, you will go...hmmmm....and hmmmmmm and you will hmmmmmm even more....

Porsche Design Umbrella

I got another merchandise from QAF again. This time it is a compact umbrella from Porsche Design. The item cost well over $100++, most expensive umbrella I ever purchased in my life! What so special about this umbrella? Please read on....

Well packaged as expected from Porsche Design

Despite its brand name, the item is still "Made In China"....LOL

I can smell the leather....

The umbrealla is enclosed inside the leather pouch or cover

Porsche Logo on the button

The "$100" bucks umbrella.....looks like a very normal umbrella to me.....

Very well made rubber grip material on handle

More Porsche logo

See the cubby hole near the seat? All Porsche 911, Cayman & Boxster had that features. Why?...see picture below.....

Yeap, so that you can fit that umbrella into the cubby hole. What a great way to sell their merchandise! The leather pouch with the umbrealla inside fit in tightly inside the cubby hole! To use it, just stick your finger into the round silver hole and pull it out!

I am a sucker for automotive merchandise, hahaha, buying a $100 bucks umbrella to some people are pretty crazy. If there was no cubby hole, I wouldn't be bother with it as I already received a full size umbrella when I collected my car last Jan. I think my best purchases is always the NISMO carpet for my ER34. Best value with high quality material from NISSAN performance arm. I will talk about that in my next post!

Porsche GT2 Brochure

I took this brochure from the Porsche showroom when I was visiting the place few weeks ago. This is the brochure for Porsche GT2. The price tag for this car is about BND400K. Urgh. Some how the model had been taken off from the Porsche website. Anyway, just want to share with you a high quality brochure from Porsche. It is printed in Germany.

A hard cover with an imprint of the GT2 model on the front

Upon opening the cover, you are greeted by a GT2 little poster and a properly sealed GT2 brochure.

"Your personal copy" and "Respect Required" really tell you how serious the GT2 is. With that kind of price tag it better be!

The pages are printed in high quality papers as well. Not sure what kind of materials but it is damn glossy and thick, from page 1 to the last page!

One of the most exclusive brochure I ever collected. LOL. Yes, I do collect a few automobile brochures. Can't own the real thing so the brochure is good enough :)

Porsche Merchandise

When I was in Porsche showroom, I was given a few freebies from the nice people of Porsche. Some are Porsche merchandises and some are really cool brochures by Porsche for potential buyer. Meaning, they do not usually hand out this type of brochure to anyone. Well I am not really a potential buyer for some of the Porsche models, but they said to me "You just take one of these brochure so that you can motivate yourself more to buy the more expensive Porsche model in the future" That make me laughed so hard. What a nice way to make a sales!

Here are some of the freebies I received during some of my visits to the showroom

Today I will talk about this merchandise. It's a small packaging that said "911 Turbo".

It is one of the wheel nuts found on the 911 Turbo

Very very details with Porsche crest but do you know what this item does ?

Yeap, it is a butthole plug...I mean Wine-Stopper by Porsche.
