Porsche Optional Equipment - Bi-Xenon Headlight with LED

This is another optional equipment that can be directly fitted from Porsche Factory.  This option cost me BND$3500++ and is the most expensive Optional equipment fitted in my Porsche Boxster S! Second behind this is the BOSE Sound System.

The price you paid will get you Bi-Xenon HID,  Dynamic Corning Lights, Day-Time Running Lights LED and LED stripe for night use.  There are only 3 units(white, red and yellow) of Porsche Boxster 987.2 in Brunei and mine is the only one with with this option!

Bi-Xenon Equipped Headlamp....

....Standard Headlamp, see the differences?

Bi-Xenon HID with Dynamic Corner Lights
I am sure you guys are familiar with HID.  As for Dynamic Corner Lights the sensors continuously monitor speed, lateral acceleration and steering lock.  It will determines the angle of the dynamic cornering lights and the lights will be able to swivel in corners for better illumination of the road ahead!

See the differences?  Mine comes with 4 LEDs for DRL

Non-LED Halogen Bulbs can be seen on this Red Boxster in QAF

Porsche Optional Equipment - Universal Audio Sound

This here is called Universal Audio Interface or in simple Layman's term, auxiliary input.  As you can see from the picture, it has a AUX input with no USB connection. This little thing cost me BND$260 to optioned, and cable is not included!!!  And the worst part is I never use it.  LOL.

Most cars are fitted with USB connection for MP3 compability as standard! Hey even my previous Peugeot 5008 comes with AUX and USB connection!  The reason why my car doesn't have one is because I didn't option for the high-end Porsche car player called PCM. If you must ask, the price for PCM cost BND$6000++ and.....wait for it........USB connection is an extra cost for $760! Hehehe.......Now you know why car journalists always remind readers that Porsche is the most profitable car manufacturer in the world.

Porsche Optional Equipment - Park Assist

This is Porsche ParkAssist.  Yeap another expensive non standard Porsche Optional Equipment.  BND$1170 to be exact and will buy you four reverse parking aid sensors. There is no display to tell you how far to the rear object, you judge it thru the beeping tone coming from the speakers.  Yes I know many cars has this as standard.  Well thats the price to pay for owing a Porsche brand. As a 16 years experienced driver's, parking aids does help a lot especially in tight parking situation!  You don't want to bump into other cars do you?

Porsche Optional Equipment - Wind Deflector

Hi again! Today will be another post for Porsche Boxster S.  This time I want to talk about the Porsche Optional Equipment Wind Deflector that I optioned when ordering the car.

It is a three piece items consist of 2 Roll-bar Mesh(left and right) and 1 Rear Windscreen.  Combined all three you got what Porsche called WIND DEFLECTOR.  It is sold as a set and cost me $750.00. Price also included a protector cover to protect the Wind Deflector when not in use.

Well, for those first timer,  do not opt this equipment if you have the chance.  Why?  After ordering my car,  I found out you can get this on other Porsche Online shop for half the price :(

Porsche Optional Equipment - BOSE Sound system

Hi everyone,  today would like to post something about my Boxster S.  It's been a while since I last posted something about it.  Hehe.  Today post will be the Porsche Optional Equipment BOSE sound system that I opted.
Standard Porsche Boxster S come equipped with CDR-30 Audio system(picture above) and 4 speakers sound system.  I can opted for a better one with a larger, touch screen called PCM(Porsche Communication Management), but it cost a hefty additional BND$6600!!! Well as you can see from the above pic I didn't go for it.  Instead, I upgraded the existing standard 4 speakers to a higher quality types as Porsche Optional Equipment allows that.

There are two Sound system packages for CDR-30

Sound Package Plus (BND$1330.00)
  • 7 Loud Speakers
  • 185 Watts
  • CD Storage Box
BOSE Surround Sound System Package (BND$3090.00)
  • 11 Loud Speakers
2 x 2.5cm Neodym High Range speakers (Dashboard)
1 x Center Mid-Range Speaker (Dashboard)
2 x 8.0cm Neodym Mid Range speakers (Door Panel)
2 x 20.0cm ND Low Range Speakers (Door Panel)
2 x 13cm Active Sub-woofers (Rear Panel)
2 x 6.5cm Mid/High Range Speakers (Rear Panel)

  • 385 Watts
  • 5.1 Surround Sound
  • SurroundStage signal processing specifically design by BOSE for Boxster
  • Microphone for AUDIOPILOT on steering coloumn
  • CD Storage Box

As you can see from the pics below,  I opted for the BOSE Surround Sound System package.  I am a music lover so a great high quality speakers is a must!  Check it out below!

BOSE badge

Driver Door
8.0cm Neodym Mid Range speakers (Door Panel)
20.0cm ND Low Range Speakers (Door Panel)

Passenger Door
8.0cm Neodym Mid Range speakers (Door Panel)
20.0cm ND Low Range Speakers (Door Panel)

Left Neodym High Range speakers (Dashboard)

 Center Mid-Range Speaker (Dashboard)

2 x 13cm Active Sub-woofers (Rear Panel)
2 x 6.5cm Mid/High Range Speakers (Rear Panel)

I had never heard of Porsche standard 4 speakers system, neither the Sound Package Plus.  So I cannot say how good this BOSE is compared to the other two.  In my opinion, the BOSE packages is more toward audiophile then bass boomer.  Speakers is really loud when turned up.  Clarity is excellent to my standard.  Would wish the bass could be deeper.

Porsche Optional Equipment - Sport Chrono Package

When I built the Boxster S last September 2009, there are tons of options to add in the car. The only limit you have is the $$$ in your wallet. I had a few Porsche Optional Equipment added in and one of them is this, called the "Sport Chrono" package which I paid for roughly $1450. For that price, it comes with a "Sport" Button, a very cool Timer gauge that sit on top of the dashboard and a digital lap timing device on the central instrument.

The Sport button is located just below the air-conditioning panel which sit right next to the spoiler button as shown below. When the "Sport" button is activated, the throttle response become more immediate, it also adjusts the rev-limiter to a harder setting, tunes the engine for more performance driving.

Press "Sport" for adrenaline rush

You can activate the Timer gauge to time your lap time or simply time your destination from point A to B

Central instrument reading for more accurate lap timing. Now all I need is a race track.....

I was a bit reluctant to have this option included but after a few research I finally decided to have it included and never regret it!

Porsche Optional Equipment - Porsche Red Clip

I bought something for my little Boxster recently. The item arrived from U.S after a waiting period of one month. LOL. I don't understand why it took 1 month to reach Brunei. Anyway, it is a small item and its original equipment from Porsche. Check it out!

Ting! Tong! Small parcel arrived

Wording is in German

"Steckklammer", no idea what it stand for

I do know it is called "Alarm Red Clip"

Tag said "Made In Germany"

This is where the clip will be clipped on

Tada! Simple and quick

"Porsche Boxsters are equipped with an alarm feature which notifies you when there is a breach in the passenger compartment, using infra-red motion sensors located near the map light (above your rearview mirror). The Porsche Red Clip activates your Boxster's motion sensor alarm when your top is down. It will also prevent your vehicle's convertible top from accidentally closing", information taken from eBay seller
