Peugeot 5008 Confirmed WRITE-OFF!!!!!

THE BAD NEWS!@#.....

I kinda see this coming.  I was at TAIB and they had informed me that they had decided to write-off my Peugeot.  It is a very sad day and angry day for me.  I am sad because I will miss my car and especially that panoramic roof.  Now my son will surely miss looking at the sky inside the Peugeot.   I am angry at the same time because I was told even though it was insured as first party insurance, there is a big chances that I might not get a single cents after the insurance cover this and that.  In another word, the $10,000 we deposit for the car is gone and the one year monthly payment on the car which had been paid is all gone to waste thanks to a bloody idiot drunk driver!!!!!

Total sum down the drain is near $20,000.
F@#$K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F@#$K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F@#$K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh. I can only say this, "Money, we can earn back.  Life, we can't".  I have to really thank God that I am OK after the accident. I did go to the temple to pray for my safety.   It could had been worst, luckily it was only bruises.....

.......NOW THE HAPPY NEWS!!!

Now, here is some positive news.  I am currently searching for my next family car. ^_^ I am always on a happy mood when looking for a new car. LOL.  We will be going to showroom to check out all the possible model to replace our Peugeot 5008.

Will keep you guys posted very soon!

Accident in a Peugeot 5008....Pt.3

Here you are guys,  better quality pictures of my poor Peugeot 5008.  You can click on the photo as it is in HD.  I will just let the pictures do the talking.  If you guys want to ask anything please feel free to do so.   At the moment, I am still awaiting the TAIB insurance company to decide whether to repair or declare it write-off.  I really have no idea how they can repair the car as the engine compartment is badly hit by the black Mazda Astina.  The whole front frame of the car was totaled!  The mechanic can't even open the bonnet because the latch was jammed somewhere inside the car.   I can no longer see the turbo as it also had been squashed!  The driver's side wheel was hit so hard that it got pushed further to the end of the wheel arch.

Everything underneath the bonnet had been pushed into the firewall of the car

As you can see the interior is a mess, I am sure the gearbox is also screwed

The windscreen was damaged by the deployment of the airbags

I should be getting the decision from TAIB very soon regards on whether to repair or write-off this car.  I will update more soon....

Accident in my Peugeot 5008....Pt.2

The day after I had an accident, I borrowed my in-law MB C180 for temporary uses.   While driving down the street for no more then 15mins, the car was shaking so badly.  The RPM of the car was unstable and I was so worried the RPM will drop and stall the car.  A few second after my thought, the worst happened!  The car just came into a complete stall right in the middle of the Beribi roundabout.  Luckily it was public holiday so there weren't much traffics around.  I called my in-law and they told me that the fuel gauge is screwed and they haven't pump the car yet!!! WTF!!!  They came half an hour later with a 2 litre fuels.  Thanks goodness the car started after the fuels was put in.  Sigh!

How bad luck can one get after a major accident ?

Accident in my Peugeot 5008....Pt.1

30-05-12, WEDNESDAY

9:45PM - I was driving at Jalan Rimba (near i-Lotus restaurant area) to pick up my wife and son from BBQ at a colleague house.  I was driving at cruising speed.  There were lots of traffics due to public holiday the next following day....

- The road is a small one way per lane road

- I saw from afar a black sedan signalling to turn into a Simpang from the opposite lane.  The car was stationary awaiting for passing traffic.

- Suddenly, the black car zoom out to my lane and hit me head on.  My first reaction was "SHIT!!!!", both my hands were immediately on the steering wheels and within that split second, "BAMM!!!!", the only thing I can remember was the force of the accident causing my car to fly up a few meters, the explosion of the airbags and things flying off from my dashboard.

- When the impact stopped, I knew this is a major big accident.  My head hurt due to whiplash,  my chest also hurt due to the tightening of seat belt,  I can smell chemical from the explosion of the airbags and I did recall seeing fire inside my car which was due to chemical reaction to deploy the airbag.

- I jump out of my car immediately worrying that my car might explode anytime.  When I was outside my car, I can taste blood in my mouth.  I also heard a lady crying from the other black car.  At the time, I was disoriented with a very painful chest.  I noticed my car was rolling backward, without second thought I jump back into the car and press the e-brake.  Surprisingly I found my glasses and my phone.

-  I got off the car again and the lady is still crying near the driver door of the black car.  Judging from the way the lady cried and screamed, I thought the driver of the car was not responding or probably dead.  I screamed and said "How is the driver?".  And the lady said "I am the driver".  Still crying loudly, I asked her if she was OK and said to her "How you drive??????"  At this point I looked at my car from front view and saw the extend of the damage on my car.  I just shook my head and said to myself  "This poor car is a goner...."

9.47PM -  Someone who were near the simpang approached me and said "Hey, you are ERIC right?".  At this point I was like who the hell are you?  I have no idea who he was but he saw the whole accident and he told me there was a third car involved in the accident!  I have a quick look around and found a white Toyota Kijang parked not too far away from my car.

- I immediately called my wife.

- I have a look at the scene and this is what had happened,
  1. Black Mazda Astina awaiting at the junction to turn into the Simpang
  2. Toyota Kijang did not notice a stationed Black Mazda Astina
  3. Toyota Kijang was traveling at full speed (maybe at 60-70km/hr) rammed the rear of Black Mazda Astina
  4. The impacted by Kijang was so great that the Black Mazda Astina flew toward to my lane
  5. Peugeot 5008 head-on collision with Black Mazda Astina at speed of 60-70km/hr
So there you go, an unfortunate event that caused by a stupid idiotic driver who I was told was on way back from Temburong.  The families of the owner of Black Mazda questioned the Toyota Kijang driver and I was told maybe alcohol was involved.  Worst of all, the Toyota Kijang is over well over 60s or older and he is a Muslim(no offense to my Muslim friend) who is not suppose to be drinking!!!!!

09:59PM - Called the Police about the incident

10:15PM - My wife arrived with a few of her JPMC colleague.

10:20PM - Police arrived to assist the scene.  Not sure whether they test the Toyota Kijang driver for driving under the influence of alcohol.

10.30PM - I left the scene with my driver and the Peugeot 5008 was towed to a workshop

The Black Mazda is a total write-off.  Front section totally smashed by my car and rear section totally squashed by the Toyota Kijang!

The stupid f!@king idiot Kijang

My poor Peugeot, totally toasted!!!!

Deployed of both front airbags

To be continued....

Lizard Killed My Peugeot Air-Con!

When I was at Peugeot showroom 2 days ago to collect my Peugeot due to air-con failure,  the technician presented me a bill with an attached parts.  I looked at the bill and was shocked to see a halved lizard body.  LOL.  I honestly was shocked.  I didn't realise the attached parts is a lizard.

Yes you read that right,  they found out why my air-con suddenly shut down.  It was this poor halved body lizard.  Apparently the lizard was jammed in the air-con fan or something I couldn't remember.  Phew, what a relieve.  I was starting to question the reliability regarding about this air-con problem.  Now I can lay this doubt to rest.  Peugeot rock-on!!!  (Touch wood).  Hehe

Question....where is the other half of the lizard?

Peugeot 5008 Air-Con Problem!

It seem like my Peugeot 5008 cannot get off the headline from my blog this few days.  Yesterday while driving off to lunch, my air-con system in my 5008 decided to just shutdown itself.  I decided to park the car on the side of the road to try and figure what is wrong with it.  I tried restarting the engine, pressing all sorts of button on the dash and still no cold air coming out of the vents.  So I went straight to Peugeot showroom and left the car with the technician.  Hopefully it is nothing major.  Will keep you guys up to date!

FEDERAL 595 on Peugeot 5008

Here are the new shoes for Peugeot.  It cost me BND$155.00 a piece.  All 4 tires were replaced.  In my opinion, it is quieter and has more grips then the previous tires.  In high speed, I can feel the tires bouncing of the road effortlessly with minimal viration inside the cabin.  I would probably stick back to this tires next time due to the quality and price!

Peugeot 5008 getting new kicks too!!!

Guess what readers, my third car also went for full tires replacement too!  Can you believe the condition of my Peugeot is worst then my Porsche.  I didn't even realise there are no treads at all on all 4 tires.  This is so careless of me.  Anyway, yesterday I took the car to WESTIN in Gadong.  I decided to try Federal tires because a few of my friends are using it and they said it is a good tires brand to try.  It is affordable too!  It is made in Taiwan(as long as it is not from China, I am fine with it LOL).

Behind WESTIN tire shops getting all tires off

Very botak right?

Peugeot 5008 fixed!

I got my Peugeot back already from the agent and as guessed, the battery death was the main cause of the electrical faults showing in my car.  I asked one of the mechanic working for Peugeot why the battery ran out of juice so early of its life.  His answer was "Your car has 34 separate ECUs and it drained your battery !".  Hmmm, not the answer I am looking for but is acceptable.

Can you locate the battery?

Red arrow is pointing where the battery is,  look at how deep the battery is located to the firewall of the car!

The car just went pass 22,000km, so does that mean every 20,000km I have to change a new battery???  We shall see how in the future!!  Anyway, I was charged $30.00 for the diagnoses and additional $10.00 for asking the mechanic to change the battery!  Usually I love to get my hand dirty especially with my own cars.  But when I popped the hood, I came across two problems.  First, battery location is so deep inside the engine bay that removing it seem like a problem.  Secondly, some fuse or module was attached on top of the battery.  I was so afraid to remove it, so ended up asking the mechanic to do it for me.

Yellow arrow - Battery "+" terminal
Red arrow - Fuse box attached on battery as mentioned!

The battery cost me BND$150.00!  The mechanic later said to me there are procedures to remove the battery.  I was like WTF???? I asked the dude what procedure and he said I need to unlock all doors, remove key,  wait for 5 minutes blah blah blah that I can't be f**k about listening.  I just paid $10.00 bucks and got it solved without fuss ! Man,  What a day........

Peugeot 5008 first problem!

Firstly, my apologize for not updating the page for so long.   Reason is also nothing much has happened between me and my cars for the pass weeks.

Today I got a problem with my 5008 battery,  the car battery is starting to show the symptom of going die/flat very soon. I am a bit surprised that the battery life is so short because the car is only less then 10 months old!

Because of the soon-to-be dead battery, every time I started my car these two warnings pop-up.  First is the parking brake and second is the ESP/ASR or basic term, the traction control.  Just like my ER34 last time when it was still in automatic transmission.  Every time the battery is about to die, the gearbox will always jammed at 2nd gear.   After replacing the battery, everything will go back to normal.

I already pop the car into Peugeot workshop for a check-up before changing to a new battery.  Lets hope is nothing major.

Why we chose the Peugeot 5008? Part.2

Hi there again readers!  Sorry for the late post due to my load at work.  Today post will be the final post for the continuation of Why we chose the Peugeot 5008.  Enjoy~

DOOR BLINDS
We all know tinting window is illegal in Brunei and for us who are born in Brunei, will know the scotching heat during the day!  The only alternative is DOOR BLINDS!!!  Well door blinds are also illegal in Brunei but not the one that is fitted by the factory!

We were in joy when were told this car have four door blinds fitted because we knew we will need that blinds for our little baby who will be seating in his child seat next to the window!

Door blind can be pull up and down

Door Blinds for 3rd row passengers!

ADDITIONAL PASSENGER MIRROR
This is another neat features,  a second mirror just above the rear view mirror.  It's job is to have access view to the passengers sitting behind.  This is very useful when you have kids.  You can see what they are doing and also make sure everything is in order!. LOL

PEUGEOT PARKING ASSISTANCE
This is another great feature that caught my attention. What this does is assist you on parallel parking space.  By assist I mean the system will tell you whether the parking spot can fit the Peugeot 5008.  Check out my demonstration below!

The Peugeot Parking Assistance button located near the steering coloumn.  Engaged it.....

.....and a ">P<" will appear in the instrumental panel.....

Here are two parking spot that I found in Kiulap as shown in the arrow below.  One is between the white and red car.  And the other is the red and the blue car.

All I need to do now is signal to the left to fully activated the system and just drive across the parking spot.  The sensor located in the parking sensor will measure the length between each car and will tell you whether it is OK for you to park.

Like the space between the white and red car.  It is too small and the instrumental screen will appear "PARKING:NO"

The parking space between the red car and blue car is park-able but will be tight.  The screen will show "PARKING:DIFFICULT".  So, if you are skillful in your parking, you can give it a try. LOL

So if the parking is big enough it will just simply show "PARKING:OK".  Get it? Hehe ^_^

BLUETOOTH
I don't need to explain much as you all know what this is.  Most modern car has this as a standard feature except my Porsche Boxster S :(  Amazing isn't it?  You pay so much for a Porsche and yet Bluetooth is not a standard feature.  It will cost me $1800 to option that in my Boxster!!!!

PORSCHE TIPTRONIC
6 SPEED SEMI-AUTO
Yeap, this Peugeot 5008 has some PORSCHE DNA in it.  The gearbox you are looking at is designed and engineered with Porsche.  It is a 6-speed semi-automatic or what Porsche called it "Tiptronic"

BI-XENON DIRECTIONAL
HEADLIGHTS SYSTEM
Yeap, those headlamps are fitted with Bi-Xenon as standard!!! I paid $3000++ similar system for the Porsche Boxster!

What is Directional headlights system?  Put it down in simple term, during night time when the HID headlights is activated, the car headlight system will swirl to the same direction you are turning.  The advantage is make sure maximum visibility during cornering.

ENGINE
Last but not least will be the engine,  although it is not a important preferences but it does give us the plus point when choosing this car.

The Peugeot 5008 is fitted with 1.6litre THP engine.  THP stands for Turbo High pressure and it has a twin scroll turbocharger producing 156hp with 240Nm@1400rpm.  The engine is not lightning fast but is just right for a MPV.  The turbo really help when overtaking car!

OK, there you go ladies and gentlemen.  Our reasons or points why we bought this Peugeot 5008.  There are still some plus points but I think it is not worth the mentioning.  I hope this help you guys if you are thinking of getting this car or the same brand!
